I wanted to comment that we were in a similar situation however we were still in the midst of the construction process. We provided a list of construction defects that we discovered during our visits and asked to be fixed as we did not want to deal with any horror after closing but instead of Shea doing the right thing, Shea instead sent us a termination letter and gave back our deposit.
We were less than 2 months from closing which pretty much clearly speaks that they were willing to lose money by putting the lot back on the market and finding a buyer who has no clue of the existing issues than correcting the issues and making this right. We thought Shea was a reputable builder but it all depends on what construction team you get.
